Disabled refuge systems provide 2-way communication to refuge areas (specific areas of building which are deemed relatively safe). Current regulations stipulate all new non-residential buildings consisting of more than one floor must provide refuge areas where those who are not easily able to escape in the event of an emergency can call and wait for assistance.
Communications to these are areas is achieved with a disabled refuge system which facilities rescue services determining which areas require assistance and to reassure those that help is on the way.
