There are many scenarios where conventional point detection (smoke, heat or flame) are not suitable, inappropriate or can even be more expensive compared with Linear Heat Detection Systems (LHDS).
Environmental conditions including dusty or dirty areas, areas with exhaust fumes, areas with high humidity, freezing fog, areas subjected to high vibration or areas outside the temperature parameters of traditional detectors may mean that these only work to a limited degree or even not at all.
The protection area may also have physical restrictions in terms of access during or after installation so a flexible & maintenance-free sensor would be desirable.
