Intrinsically Safe Detectors

Intrinsic Safety (IS) is a protection technique for the safe operation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas, such as petroleum and chemical engineering plants as well as factories storing and processing gases, solvents, paints and other volatile substances. Electrical equipment for use in theses areas needs to be designed so that it cannot ignite an explosive mixture either in normal or fault conditions. This is achieved by limiting the energy available for ignition.
