We supply and support a complete range of both reflective and end-to-end beam detectors from the leading manufacturers including The Fire Beam Company, FFE, Zeta Alarms, GST, Apollo & Hochiki.

Reflective and end-to-end beam detectors are two types of sensors used in fire alarm systems to detect smoke and other particles in the air. While both types of detectors are designed to detect smoke, they differ in their functionality and installation methods.

Reflective beam detectors

Reflective beam detectors consist of two units: a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter sends out a beam of light, which is then reflected back to the receiver by a reflector or a surface such as a ceiling. When smoke particles enter the beam path, they scatter the light, which is then detected by the receiver, triggering an alarm. Reflective beam detectors are typically used in large open spaces such as warehouses and atriums.

End-to-end beam detectors

End-to-end beam detectors consist of two units as well: a transmitter and a receiver, but they are installed at opposite ends of a space. The transmitter sends out a beam of light, which is received by the receiver at the opposite end. When smoke particles enter the beam path, they scatter the light, which is then detected by the receiver, triggering an alarm. End-to-end beam detectors are typically used in areas where smoke detection is required over a long distance, such as in airports, train stations, and shopping malls.

Reflective beam detectors have the advantage of being easier to install and maintain, as they require only one unit to be mounted on the wall or ceiling. However, they are generally less effective in detecting smoke particles that are dispersed throughout the air. On the other hand, end-to-end beam detectors are more effective in detecting smoke particles over a long distance, but they require more installation and maintenance efforts, as both units need to be aligned properly.

In summary, both reflective and end-to-end beam detectors are effective in detecting smoke particles in different types of spaces. Choosing the right type of detector depends on the specific needs of the space and the level of detection required.
