A fire extinguisher is an fire fighting device used to extinguish or control small fires (often in emergency situations). As larger fires ofter form from smaller fires a trained person can often extinguish these smaller fires with a fire extinguisher and avoid more severe consequences. Typically, a fire extinguisher consists of a hand-held cylindrical pressure vessel containing an agent which can be discharged to extinguish a fire.
