Our calculations show that the last order date for guaranteed Christmas delivery is Wednesday 19th December 2012. Orders placed after 2.30pm on this date may not arrive until post-Boxing Day.
We always aim to get your order to you as quickly as possible and will dispatch all orders on the same day as they are received if the order is placed before 2.30pm. Our Top 10 Festive Fire Safety Tips
At such a busy and exciting time of year it’s easy to forget your head but if anything it’s even more important to remember fire safety advice and act responsibly over the holidays.
Here are our Top 10 Festive Fire Safety Tips to keep you and your family safe this holiday season.
- Test your smoke detectors! Make sure batteries are working, that everyone in your family knows how to recognise the fire alarm and that you’ve planned an escape route.
- Switch off fairy lights and other electrical decorations (indoor and outdoor) before you leave the house or go to bed.
- Drink responsibly – don’t cook or operate machinery while under the influence of alcohol.
- Keep flammable materials away from open fires and candles, ensure these are supervised at all times and fully extinguish them before you leave the room or go to sleep.
- Real Christmas trees burn readily and can also emit harmful gases when burning – keep them away from sources of ignition and ensure fairy lights are electrically tested and conform to British Standards before use. The same safety precautions apply to artificial trees too.
- Don’t leave cooking food unattended – hot fat and oils can easily catch alight and burning food in the oven is also a major fire hazard. If you don’t already have a fire blanket in the kitchen, get one.
- Turn off ovens, hobs, grills and any other kitchen appliances after use and keep oven gloves and utensils away from appliances at all times – heated appliances such as hobs can remain hot for a long time after use.
- Check electrical sockets, appliances and cables for wear and tear and scorch marks. These are all signs that they could be a fire hazard. Also avoid overloading power outlets.
- Fire works are a now common occurrence over Christmas and New Year. If you’re planning on setting some off make sure you only buy from a reputable dealer and follow the safety instructions to the letter.
- Buy lots of batteries in advance for gifts of gadgets and toys. Having enough batteries in your kitchen drawer for the inevitable urge to immediately try out new toys will prevent you from being tempted to remove them from your fire alarms.
